Elastic Networks Unveils Next-Generation Product Family - Now Supports 6 Mbps on a Singer Copper Pair.

New 6000 Products Deliver Only Burst-Mode, High-Speed DSL Solution

For Both the Carrier and Enterprise Markets

ATLANTA, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- NetWorld+Interop -- Elastic Networks(TM), Inc., the leading provider of burst-mode DSL hardware and innovative connectivity software solutions for the carrier and enterprise markets, today announced the 6000 product family, which enables EtherLoop(TM) technology bi-directional bandwidth capabilities with speeds up to 6 Mbps on a single copper phone line. This next-generation product family is grounded in Elastic Networks' EtherLoop technology, which enables burst-mode, high-speed access technology and complies with 802.3 Ethernet standards and emerging ANSI burst-mode DSL standards.

"The evolution of our EtherLoop technology platform meets the industry's need for high-speed DSL solutions that can be deployed both in-building and in the outside loop," said Phil Griffith, vice president, marketing, Elastic Networks. "Elastic Networks is delivering the only integrated, high-speed access solution, eliminating the need to search through the multitude of differing XDSL offerings or proprietary in-building technologies."

Single Technology Platform for High-Speed Solutions

With availability beginning in the fourth quarter of this year, Elastic Network's new 6000 product family provides a single technology platform to address high-speed access applications. The new product line features:

* ELMo 6000 -- The ELMo 6000 is the backbone of the EtherLoop system that

directs and controls voice and data traffic. The ELMo 6000 supports

120 users per shelf and provides data rates up to 6 Mbps on a NEBS

compliant platform. Applications include business and consumer Internet

access.

* ELMo 6000 LX -- The ELMo 6000 LX (LAN Extension) allows for easy

interconnection of entire LANs over 10/100 BaseT connections and network

connectivity through one or more EtherLoop ports. Applications include

transparent LAN extension services for business/enterprise and other

markets requiring dedicated 6 Mbps bandwidth and LAN-like services.

* Elite 6000 -- The Elite 6000 is the single end user network device that

connects to either an ELMo 6000 or ELMo 6000 LX and provides voice and

simultaneous data rates of 6 Mbps. The Elite 6000 is capable of

bridging high-speed access service to as many as 128 client devices

through simple Ethernet hubbing configurations.

New 6000 Product Family Delivers Unique Benefits to Customers

Only Elastic Networks' 6000 product family can deliver a high-speed, deployable solution for both the carrier and enterprise customer. Product benefits include:

* Speed: Performs up to 6 Mbps in both directions, with evolution to

10 Mbps in 2000.

* Service Adaptive Bandwidth: Shapes its upstream and downstream bandwidth

performance according to the consumer or business application, versus

conventional DSL technologies that permanently constrain upstream and

downstream bandwidth.

* Deployability: Unlike constant bit rate technologies, the new 6000

product family is a robust solution working with cable binder group

interference, bridge taps and wire gauge changes in the outside plant

loop.

* Interference Detection: Leverages its burst-mode EtherLoop architecture

by "listening," in the quiet period between bursts, to the copper binder

group for other interferors. If service interferors are detected,

EtherLoop's spectrum management capability provides notification to the

carrier of any foreign service impairments in the binder group.

* Spectral Compatibility: Possesses the inherent ability to avoid

interference with other services including ISDN/IDSL, T-1, ADSL, G.lite,

HDSL and SDSL.

* Integrated Solution: Fully compatible with Elastic Networks' YesWare

Software Suite of enterprise applications and SNMP-based service

management solutions.

* Easy Migration: Existing Elastic Networks ELMo 8 and 120 systems are

easily upgraded to 6000 family capabilities with a simple circuit pack

upgrade from Elastic Networks.

Meeting Needs of Both Carrier and Enterprise Markets

Elastic Networks' new product family is the first high-speed DSL solution to effectively address both the carrier and enterprise markets.

For the carrier market, the 6000 product family answers the challenges of traditional DSL service deployment over outside plant copper loops by reducing service technician truck rolls and eliminating loop qualification and re- engineering efforts, dramatically increasing service deployability and service provider profitability.

For the enterprise market, the EtherLoop-based 6000 product family continues to deliver simple, seamless LAN-like connectivity over existing twisted pair wiring for a variety of applications. EtherLoop enables high- speed in-building access without labor intensive building rewiring or modifications.
