Good day to be lucky in love: Three times as many Americans choose 7/7/7 for their wedding day.

Jul. 8--QUEENSBURY -- The seven couples married Saturday at the Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom said they didn't really need the rare alignment of sevens to boost their luck -- good fortune already had blessed them.

Across the nation, an estimated three times as many couples took their vows on 7/7/07 than do on a typical Saturday in July. About 38,000 couples listed the date on TheKnot.com, a wedding planning Web site, targeting the lucky number and date for anniversaries.

At the amusement park, there was just one hitch to getting hitched -- the 7 a.m. start was postponed 30 minutes for a relative's late arrival. But then, the couples, from Latham to Lake Luzerne to Plattsburgh, had no need for a magic number. They've already weathered financial problems, logistics and even differing personalities to complete their unions. They also had to win a contest to get here.

After the couples took the plunge, they took the plunge -- into the so-called Tornado, a 50-foot-high, 60-foot-wide water funnel.
